QUESTION OF THE DAY: Who do you think is the most mismanaged/objectified female character in mainstream comics? (ie: the character with the most potential squandered due to all of the  terribly sexist, etc. writing/art/editing).  I know there are lot, but try to pick the worst one in your opinion.

At the moment? Rogue, IMHO. There is no good reason whatsoever for a person who’s main weakness is skin contact to be wearing an epically cleavage-baring top like she’s recently been drawn in (say nothing of the daisy dukes of yesteryear). I also do not imagine she would enjoy being stared at and lusted for, as this would remind her of how little she can really enjoy such contact. Say nothing of the pracicality of such an outfit, which has been mulled over many a time.
I remember her wearing an all-covering, padded red and black suit for a while and I thought she looked beyond badass in it. It reflected her mutation very well, provided her with some physical protection and made her look good without looking like her mission in life was to attract male gazes.
Maybe I’m wrong, and maybe Rogue loves being all “look but don’t touch, baby~” but I seriously doubt it.

This is actually heartbreaking when you remember Lilo tells Stitch her parents went for a drive, and the bad weather caused them to crash.

I always thought this scene was adorable

Wow thanks guy

Right in the childhood.

i never made that connection

Don’t ever hesitate. Someone may just need it, you never know. REBLOG it.

Activist prevents Israeli officer from arresting Palestinian child

During Sunday’s Jerusalem Day events, a Palestinian boy, perhaps 10 years old, was chased down an East Jerusalem street by a very angry officer of the Border Police. The boy tripped and fell, then picked himself up just as the Border Police officer reached him and tried to grab him. But a 22 year-old female Israeli activist prevented the boy’s arrest by throwing herself between the two, allowing the Palestinian boy to flee.

Jerusalem Day is meant to be a celebration of the city’s ‘reunification’ following Israel’s victory in the 1967 war. In practice, it is a day for Israeli nationalists, draped in flags, dancing in circles, singing and chanting (including the popular Israeli nationalist chant, ‘death to Arabs’) as they march through the streets of East Jerusalem and the Old City. Many of the Jewish demonstrators are bused in from right-wing yeshivas in Israel and the West Bank

This year, an Orthodox Jewish man grabbed the Palestinian flag from the hands of a 10 year-old boy and refused to return it. The boy, enraged, tried to prise it out of the Jewish man’s hands. A Border Police officer, seeing the struggle between a 10 year-old Palestinian boy and a fully grown Jewish man, chased the Palestinian boy rather than ordering the Jewish man to return the flag. Someone made a montage of the incident and posted it on Facebook, with commentary. Note the expression of rage in the Border Police officer’s eyes, as seen in the second photo.

In the end the boy got away, due to the intervention of a 22 year-old Israeli activist from Jerusalem named Sahar Vardi, who threw herself in front of the Border Police officer just as he was about to grab the child. Photojournalist Haim Schwarczenberg caught the incident.

The incident was also filmed and the clip posted on Youtube.

notice the people in the background who would rather take pictures than prevent a man from killing a child

i think it’s interesting how the OP wrote this to tell the reader that the child was about to be “arrested” when you can see very clearly in the second photo that the guy’s pointing a rifle at him. I don’t think that activist intervened to prevent an “arrest”…she thought there was mortal danger involved.

Kudos to that woman, it takes serious guts to get in the way of a man chasing a child with a rifle.  Damn.  Some of the commentary on included in the linked article is really horrifying.  Over 200 people were praising the soldier for trying to kill that unarmed boy. (They seem really upset that “leftists” had cameras to document the incident, too- lots of them are saying in the future their cameras should be broken to prevent these things from leaking.)

Thank God for people like her.
